Link Preview Checker

Enter a URL to preview how it looks when shared on Google, X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Slack, and check its Open Graph tags, share image and meta description.

See how the link looks on Google, X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Slack before you share it.

What controls a link preview

When a link is shared, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Slack and messaging apps read the page's Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) and X's twitter:card tag. Google uses the page title and meta description. If those tags are missing, each platform guesses, which is how links end up shared with no image, the wrong title or a cookie banner as the description.

The right share image size

Use an image of 1200 by 630 pixels, a 1.91 to 1 ratio, as a PNG or JPG. That size shows as a large card on every major platform. Smaller images may be shown as a thumbnail or not at all, other shapes get cropped, and SVG images are not displayed by X, Facebook or LinkedIn. Set twitter:card to summary_large_image so X uses the large card.

Fixed it and the old preview still shows?

Platforms cache previews, sometimes for days. LinkedIn's Post Inspector and Facebook's Sharing Debugger can refresh a link's cached preview; for others, wait for the cache to expire or share the URL with a harmless query string added. Check new pages before launch day, so the first share is the right one.
